Just some of my work:
Don’t forget social media & blogs.
Bangor Daily News Blog ~ FillTheSteins.com: A group of youngish UMaine alums got together and put our nostalgia to some use! FillTheSteins.com was a way for us to remember our college days, but also to engage other alumni and create a (somewhat irreverent) community. FTS was a success, drawing (tacit) support from the Alumni Association and getting picked up by the Bangor Daily News, Maine’s largest daily newspaper! From interviews to sports coverage, to history and the arts, Fill The Steins was a way to remember ‘The College of our Hearts Always!’
(Now defunct, but FTS’s archived social media lives on…on X.)
X (formerly Twitter) ~ @PWMPorcupine: When a treasured piece of sculpture went missing from the Portland Jetport, I spotted the opportunity to engage with the local news outlets and community while providing a humorous take on the situation.
The Twitter handle @PWMPorcupine was born, and allowed me to showcase a new style of writing with a “sharp” wit.
Social media ~ #PatStop24 on Instagram, Facebook, and X: Pat’s Pizza, a Maine institution, has been a part of my life since I started going to the original Orono, Maine location before UMaine basketball games with my father. I’d long wondered the differences between the different locations, and finally, I got to find out! In 24 hours, we visited each of the 17 Pat’s Pizza locations, having fun on social media and raising nearly $1,500 for the Good Shepherd Food Bank along the way!
News coverage: 2 guys, 24 hours, 17 different Pat’s Pizza locations (News Center Maine)
Social media ~ Iceland National Soccer Team Supporters in Portland, Maine (now defunct): Once the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team was eliminated from World Cup 2018 competition, I was on the lookout for a new squad to support. What better team than the upstart Icelanders, an underdog with a committed fan base, Viking mentality, and a growing relationship with Portland, Maine?!? I started this group of supporters to learn more about the team and to serve as a hub of information about matches and viewing parties.
